Customers need to be notified of unscheduled closings.
I confirmed my storage space on Thursday, 12/27 and asked, at the time, if the unit at 12th Ave & 44th Street would be open on Sunday, 12/31. I was informed that it would be. I assumed that it might close early because of New Year's Eve, so I made sure to get there before 3:00 pm. When I arrived with my first load of material that I needed to put in storage, the facility was locked up. A subsequent call to your main number revealed that the unit was planned to close, oddly enough, at 3:00 pm that day (with no prior notification to customers) and then, on short notice even to your employees, a decision was made to close the facility even earlier, at 1:00 pm (again, with no prior notice to customers.)
I am not happy with how my initial experience with this facility has played out. A two hour round trip, having to walk a half mile from Hudson Yards, and then back again, for nothing. The old management of Manhattan Mini Storage, where I had a space on West 29th Street for five years, would not have done this. This is not how you do business in New York City. How about a global text to customers before the date in question? This is not beyond current technical capability, but it does appear to be beyond your administrative capability.
